Roštejn Castle

Castle was built in the first half of the 14th century. In the 1570s Zachariáš of Hradec carried out a major reconstruction and built two enclosures for deer nearby. From 17th century to beginning of the 20th century it was used as a hunting castle. The castle burnt out in 1915 and the subsequent reconstruction lasted from 1956 to 1982.
There is situated an exhibition which is the part of the Museum of Highlands in Jihlava. The seven-sided stone tower height of 48 m. In exposition is possible to see Renaissance frescoes in coat-of-arms hall. Interesting is seven-storey Christmas crib. Castle offers night visits and holds historical festivals, theatres, concerts and weddings.
